    COV: I have been..

tempted to test CoH/CoV and it seem's that there are still some of you who are playing it so, any tips and tricks I should know? :P

And how is the server's in CoV/CoH? Are they continent based or everyone mixed up with everyone. Intrested to know, if I could get on same server with some of you maybe, could be a good chance to get to know some people before AoC comes out at the same time maybe?

    Hey man,

as far as I know I was the last one playing with our villain group on Virtue a couple of weeks ago. Haven't had much time for gaming at all over the last month though :(. There are euro servers, not sure if it's possible to get on a NA server or not.

I think there are still some guys playing in EVE and in WoW on the Maelstrom server under the SSC banner(several guilds there, not just Tribunal), if you are interested.

Hmm, well have to re-think then, but nevertheless... I got sick and tired of WoW after year and half of playing it (in Defias Brotherhood(EU)) and constantly seeing GM's ignoring to reports of diffrent issues (I actually got banned for reporting a name in there... only 3h ban tho. >;) ) but maybe I should check it nevertheless.

I don't really know much about EVE, that game never hit me on the nerve like that I would like to test it out. :)

Anyway, thanks for warning Caraffa, I'll just re-think this over then. :)

I still have my CoV Accounts though I havent logged onto them in some time, the game I play now when I have time besides Battlefield 2 is Eve.  Started out using the free trial of eve and now own an account or two.  There is 4 of us that play that semi often and then Breemis is around once in a while on japan time but the rest of us in Eve run US times mostly EST.  I could be talked into playing CoV if other people are interested.

If we end up joining up with the corporation Margrove is in on eve then I know a lot of those players are british, though they are not tribunal members.  Still it kills time until AoC comes out.

    COV: Re: I have been..

I have been playing a bit the past few days and I will be from time to time.  We are based on the Virtue server which is a moderately populated RP friendly server.  I don't think there are any region specific servers so that may make it hard to connect but if you do decide to give it a try let me know and I'll try to hop on when you are around.

On that note, I'll probably be playing a bit this weekend if anyone wants to hop on.  I upgraded our base a bit, added a new floorplan, new teleporter to Grandville and some of the new base items.  I've been running around with my lvl 20 something Dom lately.  Since we got the free respec I was able to correct the horrid mistakes I made with him so he no longer sucks.  Having 3 slots in Endurance Recovery at lvl 20 is sweet, the little guy almost never  runs out of stamina now, instead of running out after each mob.  I actually managed to run an entire mission without ever resting which is a first for my characters (except Lord Machina, who never actually does anything except send in the bots).

Anyway, back to Blindeye.  If you decide to try it out I can at least add you to the villain group which would give you access to our base and all the transport, storage and buff devices that comes with it.

edit:  Oh btw, we could add a raid teleporter in if anyone decides to come back.  We could try some of the trials or maybe even some base raids.

Checking diffrent games and thinking about what to try, I am actually getting back to my orginal idea of testing if CoH/CoV could be my time killer until AoC, but before I go get the actual game I would like to know is it worth to buy both CoH and Cov? If I understood correctly, you dont actually get all the goodies unless you have both games right, but they both do work without other one too? How about monthly payments, are they same no matter do you have only one or both of the games?

Monthly payments are the same if you have 1 or both.  You may need both CoH and CoV if you want to play as a hero and use bases unless they have changed that restriction.  If you plan on playing as a Villain though, you really don't need CoH.

I was thinking about going the dark side, so CoV would be the primary thing for me to buy. I knew that just getting CoH wouldn't give you all the aspect's of game (bases and these raids to other player runned bases etc.?) but also, just wanted to be sure that I wont miss any skill's or anything like that if I just left CoH laying in shop?

Well, I can't say that the endgame of CoV looks very promising, but DAMN, I love my robotics Mastermind.

Nope, you won't miss out on any skills.  A villain with CoV only will have the exact same experience as a villain with both.

FYI, I remember reading somewhere on the forums that CoH could be picked up for around 20 bucks. You get a free month with it, so it works out to be about 5 bucks, not really much anyway if you wanna pick it up.

About endgame content, what I have seen of Grandville is pretty cool btw, haven't been to RV yet. Finished the first part of the Black Scorpion arc, and helped others with Mako, was pretty fun.

Yeap, there were one message about that price and I actually found one gamestore here in Helsinki were I can get the CoH at 19euro's. That's some over 20bucks, but then again I dont have to pay shipping/packing/mail so the price is pretty much the same. Also CoV at 29euro so I will probably buy them both, just in case I want to try to be a hero too. :)

Thank you all anyway for tips, I'll let you know what char I have created on mon-tue probably. ;P

Bothering you again...  Just to get few idea's, tips and warnings before I start. :)

I was thinkin about making either a Brute (Maybe SuperStrenght and StoneArmor/Inv) or Corrupter (Assault Rifle and Traps) but as not really knowing anything about the game or it mechanics yet, am I making a huge mistake? I mainly chose those because of the style and image I want to create on my char RP wise, but if I am just digging myself a huge hole here, I may chance them.

Others have leveled much higher than I did, but from what I saw you cant make a mistake as long as you play something you enjoy.  Some of them are definately easier to level at low levels, and some become more powerful later on, but everything I tried was able to solo missions if necessary.

    Ok, just a few tips:

Both of those sets are nice, but are a bit low on healing.  I also think that both AR and SS are pretty commonly resisted dmg types (just do less dmg) but they have some great attacks.

Stone armor is nice, but several of its powers will reduce your movement speed a good deal and I'm not sure if it has any heals at all.  It also makes you look like a big pile of rocks, which can be a good or bad thing I guess.

You may want to search this forum a bit and read up on some of the early info post regardling things like macros and whatnot.  If you go Brute you will definately want to have an auto-brawl marco made to get your Rage bar up quickly (brawl does almost no dmg but its has very fast recharge and each hit increases rage).

When planning your character (particularly Brutes and Corruptors and Doms) make sure you  are able to take Stamina at lvl 20.  You get a new power every even level (2,4,6,8 etc up until lvl 32 then its ever 3) and you will need 2 powers from the Fitness Secondary powerset (available to everyone) before you can get it.  Also on that note I believe at lvl 6 you get access to the non-class specific powersets (tavel powers, fitness, stealth etc) just remember that you can take as many additional powersets as you want, just dont go overboard.  You will be able to get your travel power at 14 as long as you have taken the base power already.

Confused yet?  If you look around there are some links to alot of helpful tools such as character planners, maps, bagde requirements, and guides.  I suggest looking them over before starting out.  The official forums have alot of great guides as well.
